Spinal Decompression

Disc Decompression
Each year over 50,000 patients are treated with DTS Therapy and that number is rapidly growing as more people seek a safe and effective alternative for relief of neck or low back pain that may otherwise require surgery.

What is Disc Decompression Treatment?
Spinal decompression therapy is an FDA cleared treatment for many types of acute and chronic neck and low back pain.  It has a high success rate for pain associated with herniated or bulging discs...even after failed surgery.  It is a non-surgical, traction therapy that works by cycling through distraction and relaxation phases.

During spinal decompression therapy,  negative pressure is created within the disc that allows the disc material that has protruded or herniated to be pulled back within the normal confines of the disc.  This allows healing to occur within the disc.

Often times, the disc bulge or herniation will cause a pinched nerve resulting in radiating pain, numbness, tingling and or burning in the arms, hands, legs and feet.  Relief of these radicular complaints is another expected benefit of treatment as the irritation to the pinched nerve is removed.

Over 25 years of research has now brought about decompression technology that is a highly effective yet non-invasive treatment for most causes of acute and chronic neck or lower back pain.

Who Can Benefit ?
There are many conditions of the neck and low back that respond well to decompression treatment.  These conditions include:

  • Disc bulges and Herniations
  • Sciatica from pinched nerves
  • Disc decay / Degenerative Disc Disease
  • Facet Syndrome
  • Arthritis & Spinal Stenosis
  • Failed surgery

Decompression treatment is not indicated during pregnancy, those with severe osteoporosis, those with screws, plates, rods from previous spinal surgery.  Decompression performed on those with spinal bone fusion are likely able to receive treatment.

RESEARCH:
Numerous research studies have found disc decompression therapy to be effective including this one summarized below:

"Results showed that 86% of the 219 patients who completed the therapy reported immediate resolution of symptoms, while 84% remained pain-free 90 days post-treatment. Physical examination findings showed improvement in 92% of the 219 patients, and remained intact in 89% of these patients 90 days after treatment."

A thorough consultation and exam is performed with the doctor to determine the exact cause of your problem and the best course of treatment for you.  If the doctor does not feel you can be helped by our services, then other treatment options will be discussed with you and a referral will be made.

Typically, relief is felt sometime within the first 6 treatments.  The amount of time and frequency of treatments varies with each individual, however 8-15 treatments over a period of 4-8 weeks are most often necessary & recommended with most cases.

Treatments are done in a relaxed atmosphere.  You will remain fully clothed and treatment times last from 15-25 minutes.    Treatment is relaxing as most patients will sleep through it.

Cost of disc decompression treatments are very affordable and can be discussed with you by our staff. Payment plans are also available.

If you have neck or low back pain that has not responded to other treatments, you should consider the DTS treatment.
